Thus, depending on your time zone, it may or may not already be Valentine's Day. It seems that everyone has an opinion on this fucking holiday. I'm pretty meh about myself. I mean, I have a wonderful boyfriend that I love, if we love to celebrate, but none are expected to display a certain extravagance of devotion. In fact, romance often makes me cringe.
We love romance better when it's corny. This year, my boyfriend gave me an assortment of candy portal, since I am officially working on my master's thesis on it this semester (more details soon). This included a sticker Aperture Science for my laptop, stickers warning sign of openness inside that I'll probably put them on different laptops and science kit potatoes. Pretty rad, right?
He just got a job at a gentle prestigious research institute here in northern Nevada, and since it is called the Desert Research Institute, we often joke and call Black Mesa. Half-Life 2 was his favorite game for a long time, and it looks a bit like Freeman with his beard and glasses. So, being the loving girlfriend that I am, I made him a cup of coffee for the Black Mesa Lab, a new HL2 shirt, a parking pass BM, and of course, a crowbar. I was going to build an HEV, but alas, I only have so much time to my boyfriend loves.
Needless to say, it is full of Aperture Science vs. Black Mesa in our house right now. GLaDOS against the G Man. Gordon Freeman vs. Chell [Redacted]. Who will prevail?
